Title: Cannot Read USB in Car Radios, stock or otherwise
Post by: davemccorkle on August 18, 2021, 06:47:58 pm
I synced a playlist to a USB I use in my truck and it has worked fine through the last 10 versions but now with version 28 I get an error that the radio cannot read the files.

This happens in 4 different vehicles, VM CC, VM Tiguan, and two other after-market radios.

If it is a USB flashdrive then perhaps the drive has gone bad?

Well, I have tried on 3 different one.  The structure matches as it does on the one that works.  They are formatted as fat32 and the folder structure is there.  I have one that I still created from version 27 and it works fine.  SOmething has change with 28 but for the life of me, I cannot see it.

What format are you converting to / from.  I can try when I get chance, or maybe someone else will chime if this worked for them.

I uninstalled MC on a machine and loaded version 27 and the USB works so this is a 28 issue.

Please have one of your developers look into it for us.

Thank a million!

Are you sure the 27 and 28 sync settings are the same?

If you confirm what formats you sync  from / to on MC 28 I can verify if I have same issue with my install.  Otherwise I have nothing to test.

I format the USB fat32, I am syncing the same way by sending a playlist to the USB.  I can see my structure and all the files.  Only MP3 no conversion happening.  My playlists are only MP3.  It works fine with my iPod classic 160.

Very strange

Sorry, I can't replicate this.  I created a smartlist of mp3's and sync'd to a usb.   MP3's have variety of bps rates
They all playback fine via foobar and vlc and JRiver

It should be as simple as you said but it stopped working in 4 of my vehicles.

I am going to try an SD card next.

MP3's are all 320 as well

What if you just copy the same files via windows?

We've seen devices that wouldn't work with certain formats or sizes of album art.

I tried copying the file to the root of the drive, still no luck.  Even just 1 song.

Again the same USB synced with version 27 works fine.
