Title: IP vs Device Name on NAS - Playlists
Post by: donlboy on August 20, 2021, 01:05:04 pm
I have my media files on a network NAS and my library has all of the music under the NAS device name (MyCloud . . .). I have many playlists that also use that approach. I have now added the NAS to my library under its network IP (192.168.nn.nnn) because I am planning for a new NAS that will have the same IP address but not the same device name. All is good except for the playlists, which all use the device name addresses. I tried using Rename, Move & Copy Files to change MyCloud . . . to 192.168.
nn.nnn but that gives me the dialog "One or more files is going to a name that already exists on the system. It will automatically be renamed. Is this OK?" If I proceed the file is renamed with a (1) suffix. (Strange, since it doesn't ADD the (1) version it REPLACES the original file so I now have only "song (1).FLAC", the "song.FLAC" is gone.) Is there a way I can point all playlists to the IP address for each song without having the filenames changed or doing them one-by-one?
