Title: [Feature Request] - Get Lyrics Dialogue
Post by: Manfred on August 29, 2021, 03:27:59 pm
Sometimes Lookup Lyrics fails of simple reasons e.g.:

Taylor Swift new Albums (Taylors Version) have the Track Name:

- Forever & Always (Taylor’s Version)

Lookup Lyric Fails because of the term in brackets (Taylor’s Version). If one removes the term everything works - but one does not want to change the Name!

So could we get a simple Dialog like Get Lyrics for a single track where one could temporarily change the name->then do lookup lyrics in the dialog-> close the dialog and everything is fine.

Lyrics Lookup Sites, along with a lot of other metadata lookup/scraping sites, consider anything in parenthesis as part of the Track Name therefore will fail for any track which includes anything that is not part of the actual song title/name; i.e (Taylor's Version). The way to avoid the problem is to put the "additional information" in Square Brackets; i.e. [Taylor's Version] as most metadata lookup sites ignore any part of a song title that is inside square brackets.

Yes - it was clear for me that the Lyrics Provider could not handle the round brackets.

But what I absolutely want to avoid is to change the metadata of my digital bought albums. This is by no way a good design pattern to change the metadata of digital download. The Metadata provided by HighRes Audio, Linn Records and NativeDSD are all of high quality.

That's the reason why I want for the exceptions (~300 of my ~15000 tracks) a small dialog where you could manipulate the Name temporary.

I don't think this is something we should do.  You can rename the tracks temporarily.

I suggested this solution some time ago

"The ideal solution would be that if the auto lookup fails, right clicking brought up a search box similar to the Get Movie and TV dialog box screen.
Then you could quickly fix or remove the brackets or Remastered part and extra names and search just the song title but not change the song tags when the lyrics are found"

Now that's smart and practical.
