Title: MusicEx 2.012... What Is It For?
Post by: DocLotus on March 29, 2003, 02:59:43 am
Have been trying to play AC3 (surround sound) music files but MC9 does not recognize AC3.

Downloaded the JRiver MusicEx 2.012 input plug-in as it said it extended the number of file types that MC could play.

Still no AC3.

Does MC support AC3?  If not, why not.  The default Creative Audigy player does so I would certainly think that a great player like MC9 would.

It would be cool to support AC3.  As soon as I can find a decent 5.1ch sound card, I plan on switching it out.

I would like to know what MusicEx is anyway. It's in the tool menu. I haven't clicked on it. I don't want my computer to blow up.

I did click on it (in the Tools menu of MC9).

MusicEx (in the MC Tools menu) looks like a license manager... what do we need that for?

I downloaded MusicEx 2.012 as a plug-in.  According to the plug-in site 2.012 seems to be something else... a way to extend to other file formats.  It did not say anything about being a license manager.

Are there TWO different MusicEx programs?

Thanks Jim.

But what about AC3 files?

Creative player has been playing them for over two years now.  When will MC do this?
