Newbie here looking for a replacement for WMC. Reluctantly replaced Windows 7 with 10 and lost WMC and its simple but functional UI.
Tried multiple versions of Kodi and it's been nothing but frustration.
Just looking to play movies and TV shows saved as .VOB files (from DVDs) stored on the NAS.
Don't care about streaming TV, videos, music, etc.
Can MC do this without a lot of fuss?
Thank you.

Should be able to over fast network ... you can download and use MC for 30 days trial
If you ran into some trouble ... can post your problem in this forum ... and someone will help you make it work
EDIT: if your PC has good GPU ... upscaling DVD to HD/UHD with MadVR is amazing

It certainly seems like it should.
But does it?
Let me rephrase the question: Has anyone successfully played DVD content saved to disk (NAS/SAN) over the network using MC28?
-
Yes

Brevity appreciated.
Evidently, I installed MC28 more than 30 days ago; after uninstalling and reinstalling JRiver, I am informed the trial period has ended.
Is there any way for me try this product again on the same computer before purchasing it?

If not, you can always try MC27. The vob playback functionality has not changed between 27 and 28, I believe.

Thanks for the suggestion - got it installed and started fiddling with it.
