Any opinions on the m-audio Audiophile 2496 http://www.m-audio.com/products/m-audio/audiophile.php
Thanks!

I don't have one, but it's considered to be a very good soundcard. If you do a search over at Hydrogen Audio forums, you should be able to find several of the recent threads discussing quality soundcards. Note that you can run into some issues with general Windows sounds and gaming audio if you use the Audiophile 2496 as your only soundcard. Also recommended is the new M-Audio Revolution, which is also about $80-$100 cheaper than the 2496 and will handle general and gaming audio.
I have an Echo Audio MIA, which is another high quality card, and MJ/MC are unable to see it as a device for line-in recording. Not sure if you might have the same problem with the 2496.

I have one. It does a good job. I needed one with RCA outputs on the back for my system.
