Why the hell is MC saving it's version number into the comment field of an MP3-TAG??
Please remove this!

good morning...
like what version Of MC9 do you have?
I have 9.0.137 and it does not do what your saying.
-
First of all, there is no MC8!! Only MJ8 & MC9! :-*
I tried this with version 9 builds 135&137, in both cases, properties of windows explorer report that the version numbers of MC is saved in the comments-field.
I'll verify this with several taggers ASAP.
Thanks for reply

Type-O i was so happy i got my new computer yesterday ;D
ok i know what your talking about now.
some programs including windows explorer only will show one(1) comment
in fact the ID3v2 standard allows for many omment fields to be used.
the problem is MC9 does not save the "Comment" first before the other comments and in this case it shows the Media Centers version or tool version number.
I think this is a Big mistake and should be corrected and the users have talked about this before. this makes MC9 not compatable with all other programes.
it as of now has not been changed
if you use Dr. tag you can see all the tag frames under the advanced comment tab (or what ever it is called, it has been some time since i used it).

This one threw me @ 1st too, and I now own mp3tagstudio. It lets me see what MC is putting in my files, and you can't help but lurve that right-click menu:)
There's more to this as well....
not only does MC not save the main comment tag at the top, when viewing file properties, the comment field, while fine for id3v1 comments, does not allow for the extended comments allowed in v2 tags. If you resize the window, it does show the whole comment, sometimes, otherwise you gotta highlight the field, then move the cursor to the end to see the hidden bit. A real pain in the you know what.
An extended field for extended v2 tag comments would have been nice.
