Hi, I'm using 9.0.124, and have a problem with my "trial period" expiring even though I have a valid license. This happens after I reboot the machine, or sometimes even after logging into a different account (on a different NT domain, in case it might matter). I have already wasted 3 or 4 restores on this problem.
I have searched back through the posts, and have found others with the same problem, and followed the advice given them. Most recently, I rebooted, uninstalled MediaCenter, rebooted, and reinstalled it. This did not solve the problem.
Does anyone have other suggestions?
Thanks,
Schwa

I don't think there's a restore limit while 9 is in beta. ? on the your original problem though. I'll test logging in as someone else, then back in as me. I'm using 9.0.134.

I think someone else had this problem and he was using a networked drive.

Could very well be. My MC is on W2k and is installed on a local drive.
I just logged out...logged in as Administrator...tried to run MC (wouldn't run)...logged out...logged backed in as me and had no trouble firing up MC (and had no license issues).

I had this problem and it was because my computer was changing its name when I switched from my office network to my home network.

michel was there a fix or a work around?

The computer name was the same except the case (it was not intentional) so I set the same case.
JohnT said me he will changed the way this check is done but of course it will be non documented...

I see, maybe if schwa upgrades to the current version that may help.

My installation is on a local drive. It was suggested before to move to a new version; that's why I'm using 9.0.124. I'll keep trying, and will try to remember to post my experiences.
Thanks for your help.

9.0.135 is current

If you keep having the problem, drop a line to johnt @ jriver.com (no spaces) detailing it.
He may be able to send you a workaround system if you're in an environment where the computer name needs to change often.
Thanks for your patience.

Right, I was using a version before .124, and updated when .124 was current (the thread I saw suggesting a reinstall was quite a bit before .124 came out).
I've installed 9.0.135; we'll see how it goes.
Thanks!

schwa - are you using NetSwitcher?

schwa - are you using NetSwitcher?
Why, yes. Yes I am.
Hopefully I won't have to give it up, since it is a great convenience.

Nice guess, zoner. What do you know?

Please try the next build. You may need to do one more license restore the next time you use NetSwitcher, but after that you should be immune to the problem.
