Just had MC 28.0.79 crash while playing on my MacBookPro
Logs are attached. Hope they help.
EDIT: just tried on MacOS 12.0.1 on my iMac and get a crash upon start-up. MacOS crash log attached. I obviously cannot attached the JRiver log as the application quits too early.
EDIT 2: Re-installed from image and now it's working fine. Interesting, none of my other applications had this issue but if anyone has the same problem with Monterey, re-installing MC might help.

Thanks, I've had exactly the same issue upgrading too. I'll try reinstalling later.

Data point: I had been running 28.0.64 on a Mac Mini with the latest Big Sur. Updated to Monterey, MC crashed repeatedly on launch. Installed MC 28.9.79 and all is well.

Just updated to MacOS Monterrey 12.01 and MC 28.0.79 crashed as well.

Reinstall MC.

Can confirm a reinstall fixed the issue (I just updated to Monterey, had the same problems reported here).
Thanks @JimH

Had same issue here. Reinstalling worked for me as well.

same here - crash and after installing 28.0.79 MC28 started without the crash.
But there is a heavy popping sound - if the volume goes down I hear a cracking noice - doesn't_matter which track I play.
I had the setting to change the sampling rate from 44kHz to 48kHz (output format) - if i change this to "no change" 44=44 the cracking sound is gone. I'm just sceptical that there are still some parts that aren't in harmony with MacOS 12.0.1

Same here. Just upgraded to Monterey and MC 28 crashed while starting. A fresh install worked for me too.
