Title: MC28 insralled, MC27 keeps launching
Post by: Z0001 on November 13, 2021, 02:58:57 am
Hi

I have installed MC28 and checked MC27 is set to do nothing on startup.

How ever on each boot MC27 asks to launch something called installer package.

MC28 is set to launch server only.

How do I stop MC27 interfering?

Thanks
Z

Search for the MC27 download and rename it.  Something in your Windows boot is running it.

The name will be something like this:  MediaCenter270085-x64.exe

MC 28 is doing the same thing although not set to in Options. Both are calling from a Registry MC file.

MC 28 did it again. This time a window pops up when i launched MC28. It seems to be something called Packageinstaller??? i said No and the pop up told me I had to run as a Power User as it was unable "register controls"??

any ideas?

Did you try this?

Search for the MC27 download and rename it.  Something in your Windows boot is running it.

The name will be something like this:  MediaCenter270085-x64.exe

If you are happy with 28 , why not just uninstall 27 , there is obviously a clash somewhere

Make life simple ?

The PackageIntaller is needed to do some Windows registration work.  The most likely case in which this happens is when you switch from one major version to another (28 and 27 in your case).  You might have set up your system to launch MC27 automatically on Windows startup.  You should change that first, so that Windows will not launch MC27 again.  Then you run MC28 at least once, and you will no longer see the packageinstaller popup.
