Title: I seem to recall there was an expression editor.

Howdy I seem to recall there was a stand alone expression editor that you could input test strings to see how an expression would work for you.
Am i just imagining this or do i just not looking in the right place for it?
also I am having to relearn how to right expressions so any helpful links or instructional posts would be appreciated.
