Title: How Do I Authenticate From A Client?
Post by: Richard Martin on November 20, 2021, 04:59:46 pm
I have Media Centre running on a server and have Tools > Options > Media Network > Authentication checked on the server (and a username and password created).
When I load the server library on a client pc I am not prompted to log in and when I try to sync changes from the client to the server I get a message saying "Changes are only accpeted from authenticated clients. Enable authentication on the server in Options > Media Network".

How do I log in from the client to save any library changes back to the server?

Try rebooting both machines.

also, check your settings on the server. If the client is logging in using "read-only authentication", then changes will not sync from client to server.

Try rebooting both machines.
Thanks, that worked.

[EDIT]
It worked for one client.  On another (Windows 10) PC it just connects, read only, to the server with no prompt for a user or password.  This is despite having Authentiction checked with a user and password defined and having Read only Authentication disabled.
