I am considering purchasing an album that is available only via download, and it is a DSD file.
My DAC will not play DSD files.
Media Center has file conversion features that I have used. But I never had a DSD file, and want to be sure that I will be able to convert it to either a flac or wav file (and presumably retain the sound quality).
Has anyone ever converted "from" a DSD file to other formats?
Thank you.

Yes, you can convert DSD to FLAC or WAV or any other PCM format. But, unfortunately, DSD to PCM conversions (or vice versa) are lossy conversions, so there will be data loss when doing the conversion.

There are multiple sources of free DSD downloads, so you can download a couple and try the conversion. I doubt you will hear any differences, especially if you convert to a high res PCM sample rate.
MC will convert by a factor of 8, so 2.82 MHz DSD goes to 352 KHz PCM. You can use SOX to further downsample if you wish.
