Title: Remote external access sound quality Jremote2
Post by: mrfunk on December 30, 2021, 10:47:30 am
So got this working well, the obvious question I have, is if I'm using "use native audio format" on the JRemote 2, and i have FLAC files, will I have lossless playback? and it ignores the audio quality 320Kbps setting?

Yes, Native will allow FLAC files to play losslessly without change.

FYI, I also found the JRemote2 Audio Quality 320Kbps screen very confusing.  So I used JRemote2 to play a 16bit 44.1KHz bit-test file (at full volume, no transcoding) on my MC server over Wi-Fi to an original Chromecast Audio dongle with its SPDIF optical connected to a RME ADI-2 DAC FS.  Indeed the DAC showed the bit test passed  :) .

IMO, this part of the JRemote2 screen needs clarification.  Maybe: "Audio Quality" --> "Audio Quality (transcoded formats)" if that is what applies.
