Title: Can't Restore MC9 License...
Post by: DocLotus on March 22, 2003, 05:52:04 am
After having problems trying to install MC9.0.132 & 133 I un-installed MC9 & cleaned out from the Win XP Registry all references to JRiver, Media Center, & Media Jukebox.

Still could not install 132 or 133.  So I re-installed 131 which went in ok.

But... when I tried to restore the MC9 License I got an Information dialog box saying "Error restoring Media Center license.  License file is past expiration date."

I had saved the Media Center9-14337.mjr license file in case I ever had to do a complete re-install of MC.

Is there an expiration date on these files?  If so why?

Once I have a license it should ALWAYS be good for the version it was assigned for.

Does this mean that I have to use one of my 10 restores from the web site?  If so that is a pain in the you-know-what!

Yes

So you or some other person could not submit it to a pirating website and have it on there for everyone to download, thats why there is also a limit on restores

you must go to the restore page.

it also states on this page (if i remember correctly) that the restore file is good for 14 days. this is so you can enable any computer with the program not connected to the internet.

Yes thats what they are there for.

thank you for your understanding.

Hi King;

Thanks for the fast reply.

I keep forgetting that some people are basically dishonest.  I Guess it makes since to have a time limit for that reason.

I will use the restore site for my current restore.

However, this problem came up not because of something that I did but because MC 132 & 133 will not install on my system & I tried everything I could think of including cleaning out the registry.  Soooo... it only seems that as this is a result of some coding problems in versions 132 & 133 that my license number of restores should be bumped up one notch to compensate.

Thanks.
