I have some TV shows mkv video (video:hevc, audio aac)
The voices are muffled and sometimes no voices at all.
I use bit streaming and red October HQ
all other files are ok
They used to play fine but not sure at what stage of upgrade it stopped working, as the last time they were played was last December
-
somebody please help. I can't play half of my media
-
This sounds like you're playing 6 channel audio to 2 speakers without downmixing. Since you're bitstreaming it's up to your receiver/TV to do the downmixing, so check what options you have there. Perhaps it just doesn't support 6ch AAC or whatever specific variant your files have.
As an alternative, disable bitstreaming in MC so that you can enable 6 channel downmix.
-
AAC is never bitstreamed. MC is decoding the audio. Best would be showing a screenshot of the Audio Path during playback.

as previously stated...They used to play fine but not sure at what stage of upgrade it stopped working, as the last time they were played was last December

Nothing has changed in the setup and these files used to play fine. all other movies tv etc play fine..

This is the screen shot Hendrik asked for to show the Auto Path (click on the little Setting Icon when the video in question is playing in Std View and post the screen shot). I think zybex is correct but this will show what MC is doing.
-
is this ok?
Can I delete madvr folder to try re download it
-
No need to delete madvr, as it is an audio not video issue.
Looks like MC is doing it's job reading 6ch and outputing 6ch.
Is the Onkyo receiver showing it is receiving 6ch and outputting 6ch?

Also check in Windows --> Control Panel --> Sound --> and Right Click on the Audio Device that is being used --> Configure Speaker and make sure it is set to 5.1 (or whatever # of speakers you have connected to the Onkyo). There is a "Test" button that will play a short sound across each of the speakers in turn.
-
will check control panel but as I said all other files are playing just not aac
-
this file plays fine
I am confused, went into control panel and it is set to 5.1 onkyo but on testing only plays on the two front speakers.
When playing tv movies etc all sound is coming out from the speakers as expected
-
On further testing not all aac sound is affected, just the ones with HEVC
-
You might try disabling hardware accelerated decoding in Video settings.
-
I have just downloaded a file in HEVC with aac audio and its fine.
all very odd
-
also note I did a google on why the computer was only playing on two speakers.
checked the drivers and the nvidia driver was not there. deleted the drivers and rebooted the computer and tada its back..
now tests on all speakers
