Title: Loud static at the end of some SACDs
Post by: dalnorge on February 02, 2022, 08:37:10 pm
When several of my SACDs end (last track), there is a loud static noise that won't go away until I turn off the DAC. Has anyone had an issue like this?
Windows 11 /USB / SMSL SU9 DAC.

Hello dalnorge,

I experience something similar years ago with a relatively low-cost DAC, but the problem was persistent independently from the type of file played.
And I was not using MC but Foobar at the time.

The problem then was found to be a specific issue of the ASIO driver and HW interface buffer. And the solution I found was to reduce (yes, reduce) the HW buffer down to 64 / 128 samples only, so that the player could easy flush the buffer at the end of each audio session.

Regards, Andrea

Thank you for the advice! I will try this when I get home. It's happened in both JRiver and Foobar.
