Title: Nomad Jukebox Zen - MC9 Crashes
Post by: WendtCreations on March 15, 2003, 10:07:35 pm
It was working this morning, but now, MC9 crashes any time I try to sync my playlists with the Nomad Zen.  It does fine while it goes through the songs already on the Zen, but the minute it reaches the first song that it actually need to upload, MC9 reports a memory error and hangs.  I have to use task manager to kill the process.

The Zen itself and its drivers are working fine - I have no trouble using the evil PlayCenter or Windows Media Player 9 with it.

Anyone have any ideas?

WendtCreations,

What happens if you try to transfer the file that it fails on via drag and drop?

right now, all other means of uploading the songs seem to work ok.  It only crashes in I try to sync playlists and it finds a song that needs uploading; it's at that stage the MC9 hangs completely.

I'm afraid the problem is getting much worse.  I have discovered other actions involving the ZEN that immediately hang MC9; for example, attempting to chage the view of the files on the Zen, from "automatic" to "Details" will crash MC9.  The crahses are so bad that I have to use the NT Task Manager to kill the process.

New issue.  The song order in playlists is not preserved when trnasfer to the Zen.  The playlists in the Zen reverts to being ordered by track number, no matter what the order in the MC9 playlist was.

WendtCreations,

I found a bug that I fixed. I will post a new Plug-in tomorrow.

What do you mean by this?

Hi Steve, thanks for the replies and the help.

Some info on the changing views issue you asked about.

This is the sceneraio:

In the left pane, I select the Zen, which displays the files inside the right pane.  In the toolbar, the List Type icon is set to "Automatic" by default.  If I select a different List Type, the Zen generates a crash in MC9.  The crash has varied in severity.  A couple of times it completely shut down MC9, on other times, it simply causes the Zen to stop working from within MC until I restart the program, but MC still operates correctly in other areas not related to the Zen.

I hope that helps ... and thanks for all the hard work :)

If I find any more reproduceable bugs with Zen access I'll post them here.

WendtCreations,

I just posted a new Plugin (v 9.0.07). Could you download it and test it to see if your problems are resolved?

In regards to the playlist order, try dropping a Playlist on the Nomad Icon and then right click and select "Show queued files only" This should preserve the track order. Be sure to toggle this back to "Show All Files" when you return to the view the next time if you want to see all your files.

I cannot duplicate the view crash with yesterday's build of MC and today's plugin.

Hello Steve,  thanks for the new plugin.  As far as all my testing goes, everything is looking great.  I have not been able to duplicate any of the previous issues so far.

I will continue to try to break it :)  If anything comes up, I'll post it here.

Thanks again!
