Nothing should have changed, but you could be seeing antivirus effects or thumbnails being built.  There is no general speed issue with MC29.

No issues here with Media Center 29 with Windows Defender properly set up with exclusions for Media Center. If I had to guess, it's something with your system and how you have it configured causing this. Running it on a system with Windows Defender partially disabled might be considered an unsupported configuration.

Not so.  Antivirus works in mysterious ways.
