Title: "Artist" vs "Album Artist"
Post by: drhogan on April 24, 2022, 11:59:27 am
Just finished ripping a 100 entry multi-CD featuring >90 artists.  Had to manually enter the date and artist for each one.
Not enough caffeine this morning I suppose.  I entered each artist's name in Artist instead of Album Artist.
Is there a way to automate moving the entry for each or am I stuck with copy/paste/delete 100 times?
Thanks
David Hogan

Just edit all the files and put =[Artist] in.

...or with mouse using GUI
Files selected right click -> Libary Tools -> Move / Copy Fields

Reverse entries in the library tool!

You can choose between Move or Copy in the library tool.  In the first method it is a separate, but easy, operation to clear a field for selected files.

Recommend to always back up the library before using either method, and try initially on one or just a few albums :)

You're right that is what OP wanted. Didn't read carefully and just thought that for multi-artist CDs one would like to have track artist name in the Artist field and not the other way round.

For me Album Artist is artist of the album; so main artist name if there are others too or (Multiple Artist) if CD is a real collection of different artist. But each for its own I guess  :)
