Title: questions about renaming APE with CUE
Post by: comox on May 02, 2022, 11:48:13 am
I would like to understand how to manage with MC a single file APE rip of a cd that has a CUE file with track information.

If I rename the APE with MC, the CUE does not seem to be automatically renamed, as I would have expected since MC does automatically rename other linked files like for example video subtitles.

If I rename with MC both the APE and the CUE to the same new name, the CUE no longer works because the line inside the CUE pointing to the APE is now invalid. I would have expected MC to automatically edit the CUE when it is renamed to keep it functioning.

Given all of the above, is it a best practice with MC to never rename an APE/CUE pair?

Sorry if these are stupid questions.

I don't think we've ever made renaming update the CUE file or APL files.  It might be an idea for the future.

For now, you could move by hand then simply recreate APL files using Monkey's Audio.

Thank you. That's what I suspected.

I'm going to convert to Lame V0 and delete the APEs and CUEs.
