Title: Browser not working
Post by: Tid.biT on May 18, 2022, 03:44:12 pm
Hi, I just upgraded (from 27) and installed 29.0.41 (64-bit) and when selecting "Streaming" the main part of the ui says "The web browser engine in not working properly".  I restarted and the check for updates says Media Center is up to date.

It is still set to use the default web browser "Edge".  Though I dont use Edge (Firefox is my desktop default).  And I am on Windows 10 Pro version 20H2 build 19042.1237

Any suggestions on how to get the browser features to work?
Thanks

Media Center relies on embedded web browsers like CEF (Chromium) or WebView2 (Edge). It doesn't use any web browsers installed on the system like Firefox, Chrome, etc.

You can probably fix this by manually installing WebView2 Edge and rebooting the PC.

The settings under View in MC aren't browsers.  They're browser engines.  Try Chromium.

The Edge engine is used to play DRM content from Netflix.

Thanks Awesome.  I installed MS WebView2 and now get Streaming options.

Sorry if I missed the requirements (of installing a browser engine) for this to work.  Maybe when an error depending on it occurs to also mention getting the latest version of the browser engine, along with latest of MediaCenter.
