Title: Transfer to a new computer
Post by: Tiddles on May 26, 2022, 11:19:16 am
I am about to retire my old pc and transfer everyting to a new pc.
I have backed up my JRiver database.
All my music was stored on drive m:
What do I rename the drive on my new pc to make the jriver backup file recognise the new drive?
Does it have to be the same file path? (M:)
Does it have to be the same drive name (music)?

If drive letter is the same then music should be accessible right away after restoring library backup as the file path remains exactly the same as with old computer.

That said it you can also use different drive letter if it is more feasible in your new setup. MC has a tool (Rename, Move & Copy files) to update library files' file path or just a drive letter so library's files will then point to this new path
