Title: [Search] Is it possible to search all known fields for a value?
Post by: JackTheWolf on May 26, 2022, 02:19:23 pm
I’ve searched around the forums, wiki, and Google, but can’t seem to find anything recent showing how to search all fields (at least those that contain values).

From what I gather, I would have to put in every single field with a ton of OR’s
Is something like [ *]=“some garbage data” even possible?

Well a search with no field specified will search all the fields you have marked.  So you could mark as many as you want and just search that way.

I’ll be adding fields pretty dynamically as I get a workflow going and didn’t want to keep adjusting queries.

So I take it there isn’t a simple “search all the properties, please!” method of doing so?

Just want to know so I don’t waste time messing with Media Center.

Just check the "Default search field" box for each field you add.

Well, I didn't want to have to resort to modifying all the fields just to perform searches here and there.
Based on what I could find in the forums it doesn't seem I can iterate through all the fields in a like a for loop while querying for a value, oh well.

I'm going to add an all search tomorrow.  It was a good idea.  Thanks 👍

Awesome! Thanks for taking it into consideration.
