Does JRiver have Bookmark functionality ? If so how do I use it ? This is my main purpose to use this app, to play hundreds of audiobooks.

Yes. https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Bookmarking

The bookmark feature does not work for me, when playing audiobooks.
The bookmark tag is updated when I listen and stop an audiobook (MP3), more than 60 seconds in.
When I click on Play audiobook, it's always started from the beginning.
How can I troubleshoot this ?

You might have an option set preventing it.
Tools > Options > General > Behavior > Resume playback using bookmarks
If that's set to "never" then it won't work. That's my only guess at present.
Good luck.

This option is set to Always, i.e. "Resume playback automatic".
I'm wondering if the bookmark feature really works for others, using a macOS 12.4.

Bookmarks work for me with Video files. I have not tried Audiobooks.
I just read through some of the wiki on bookmarking and found this near the top:
"If the file in question has the [Use Bookmarking] field set explicitly to Yes the the Bookmark is obeyed. If it is set to No then it is ignored. Otherwise, if [Use Bookmarking] is set to Default, then it will automatically use Bookmarking:
If the [Media Type] of the file is Video and the duration of the file is greater than 15 minutes.
Or if the [Media Type] is Audio and the [Media Sub Type] is Podcast or Audiobook."
This explains why bookmarking has always "just worked" for me on video files, but not on songs (music) files. I wonder if your audio books have the proper Media SubType set? You might also try manually setting the [Use Bookmarking] field in a file or two to "Yes". I'll bet it's something to do with the media type/subtype.

Thanks a bunch Brian that worked, specifically changing these settings:
Use Bookmarking -> From Default to "Yes" - on an individual audiobook file
Tools > Options > General > Behavior > Resume playback using bookmarks
Now I need to find out the best way to relabel 200 mp3 files on a mac, so that the Use Bookmarking feature is enabled, any ideas ?

I believe the proper way to enable this is to set the [Media SubType] field to be Audiobook. That should make it work for all files with that field.
But I guess it's nearly equivalent to set the [Use Bookmark] field instead. Here are some pointers on how to set that:
Go to a view that shows all of your audio books. Highlight all of them. Now open the Tagging Window with Edit > Tag. The Tag Window will now change tags on ALL of those files at the same time. Go find the [Use Bookmarks] tag and set it to Yes. That should do it.
Good luck,
Brian.
