Title: Not able to select bit depth
Post by: MarkIL on June 01, 2022, 08:06:56 am
i have the Ares II this is a 24bit DAC, in JRiver there is no way to select bit depth wich means that audio is going from 16/24 getting resampled then going to the DAC and getting stripped back down to 24bits this is not optimal. how do i get JRiver to not resample the bit rate and only output the original bit rate? i have all sample rates set to "no change". HQPlayer lets me choose my desired bit rate or have no change so i can't see why this should not be possible.

We use whatever format the DAC requests.  You can check in Audio Path.

Bitdepth conversion to a higher bitdepth is lossless.

Some audio drivers allow choosing the bitdepth in the ASIO control panel.

the audio control panel does not have an option to select bit rate, it is odd that a 24bit R2R DAC would request 32bit
