I want to test OGG against mp3 Lame 192 VRB.
More or less ,what is the equivalent ?- 6 ? - 7?
-
6 will do
-
ok
I let you know
-
C'mon...y'all know it's -q -0.1
For MPC @ --quality 7 set ogg(http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/style_images/1/icon12.gif) to -q 1.49
For Ape/FLAC @ normal compression set ogg(http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/style_images/1/icon12.gif) to -q 8
Yes I'm sober and only a tad bit dillusional (it's been a long day here).
10-27
-
SO 6 or 7?
-
There is no answer to your question, the right answer is "that depends on the song (mainly), your audio equipment, your ears,....
So, instead of to insist to ask "6 or 7 ?", why not to try both, that takes only a few minutes more and you will be able to get an opinion by yourself.
-
But it would cost me a lot of money..........................
If you want to test ,you have to test with the same level of quality
Listening to Sheila best of volume 2 on a $1 LP-Le Sifflet des Copains
Right now' Ouki Kouki' a great song really with super lyrics.
Do you have the volume 1?
I cannot resist to put some of the lyrics:
When people ask me
if i'am happy to live ,to sing ,to dance ,to have fun
I tell them my secret :OUKI KOUKI
OUKI KOUKI

To do that comparation you have to pay attention to:
1- Bitrate of the 2 files ( Ogg and Mp3 )
2- Size of the 2 files
5 or 6 will do that, Ogg files tend to be bigger than Mp3 @ ~ same bitrate
-
Ogg files tend to be bigger than Mp3 @ ~ same bitrate
? ?
I don't understand this sentence. If you are talking about constant bitrate (cbr), obviously ogg files doesn't tend to be bigger than mp3 at same bitrate. If you are talking about variable bitrate (vbr) it is also difficult to say that as the recommended mode for ogg is not bitrate setting but quality setting.
I would say instead that ogg files tend to be smaller than mp3 at same quality.

If you want to test ,you have to test with the same level of quality
Again I don't understand this sentence (si vous me trouvez chiant, n'hésitez pas à me le dire franchement :P). It doesn't make sense !
May be you would say "with the same resulting size" ?
Now, if you only want to know what ogg quality setting corresponds to 192 lame mp3 setting, the answer is again: probably something in the range q5 - q7 depending on the song and your ears. The only way to know is to try.

Ad what about the Sheila best of volume 2 ?
Do you have it?
