Title: Refining 'Get cover art from internet'?
Post by: Marty3d on March 12, 2003, 12:07:37 am
This option seems quite aggressive. Would it be possible to let the user decide which image she wants to use instead of grabbing something directly? I don't know how the logic's work, but I reckon MC does a search somewhere and use the most likely image... but what if MC's decision is wrong?

Cheers,
/Martin

I'd put my vote in for this, too.

Music Match does it...MJ should do it better.

You should be able to copy and paste any image you want from anyplace you can find it.

Yes, copy/paste probably works well...but in this particular matter? I'm just talking about the specific function 'Get cover art from internet'. There you have no option to copy/paste anything, you just get a cover art :)

I agree.  I'd like a step which allows me to approve the cover art MC finds.

'Spinning Wheel' Charted At 02 In 1969

Listening to: 'Spinning Wheel' from 'the Best of Blood Sweat and Tears' by 'Blood Sweat and Tears' on Media Center 9.0

Is a good song, and also is where this thread is going.

There are issues, and I don't think they will be addressed some for legal reasons.

King, would you like to elaborate that?

Do you mean that it's legal to fetch a cover art if the user don't have any control over it or that it's illegal with cover arts at all? In that case I don't know why the function is there at all...?

Just a thought. :)

JimH

Has Made comments in the past, you can search for them if you wish.

some of it is due to copyright laws, and some of it i beleave is really not in there control.

I would not wish to comment anymore on this than that already has been stated by j river.

Yes I know about the famous Cover Art discussion, but seriously, you can't deny there IS a function for getting cover art from the internet, if there's legal issues using it, then it perhaps should be removed and if not, then it could be improved. Do you understand what I'm trying to say here?

Anyway, I don't bother much for the function as it is right now since I can't control it or the output of it in any way, and it's not that important to me either, but it's a function that really could be improved and perhaps other users could find it useful, like the other posters here.

Marty,
We could do a lot more in this area, but we can't right now.  Maybe later.

I'm going to close this thread.
