Title: Sound constant without graduation when skipping
Post by: rogueblue on July 10, 2022, 03:44:00 pm
Hi

Is it possible to have the sound of a video constant without gradational increase when skipping forward during video playback?
When I press forward or backward arrow when in playback, the audio constantly graduates from zero towards louder ... I'd like the audio to be immediately hearable at the selected volume ... this possible?

TIA

I don't think MC is doing that.

What you mean? It happens everytime I nudge forward during playback

You might describe more about what you are doing.  When I jump in a video, by clicking in the timeline, I don't get any volume related effects.  I also jump forward using custom keyboard shortcuts and they behave normally as well.

I do not use MC under Windows, but I would expect it to be similar.

You might also tell us what your audio playback device is and how you are connected to it.

It's just Windows 10, basic pc audio via HDMI. No other app has any delay, no other media player when I view the same videos have any delay neither. Whether I use the arrow keys or scroll wheel to nudge forward or back in a playing video, the sound gradually increases instead of instantly playing the volume its set at

That's a very strange problem.

Are you using a mouse and keyboard to controll it?  Try using whatever you aren't now.

Any movie?

Are you using Theater View?

MC has settings for audio.  What is it set to?  Check under Tools > Options > Video and Tools > Options > Audio.  Try changing the settings.

Use Windows Defender and configure it according to instructions on the forum.  Uninstall anything else.

Any other software installed and active that controls volume?

The only setting I can think of is at:

Tools > Options > Audio > Stop Seek & Skip > Seek

Mine is set to "smooth (normal)" and it seems to do what I expect.  Standard seems a bit more immediate in terms of volume level.  Maybe try some of these.  Make sure to stop your video and restart it after making a change to these settings.

This currently my settings, but I tried every one ... I expected it to solve it but it didn't ... maybe because there's no option for when pressing again "resume/play"?
