I have duplicate listings of most of the files I have imported into MJ. This is to say that I have checked through Windows Explorer to see that there is only ONE version of that file at that location but MJ shows TWO listings of that file.
I have updated the library and both listings will play the file. WHY is MJ doing this ? and is there some way to remove all of these duplicate listings :D? without removing each one by one :-/

Yes

like I said, I have already tried updating my library with the remove files box checked. MJ still shows duplicate listings for single files
-
well delete all of them from the listing and reimport
sounds like you have somthing wrong with your library anyway.

I had this same thing happen to me. One file on the hard drive, but two listings in MC.
What I did, was open up File Properties, and switch it to the Playlists View. Then I went through and deleted the most incomplete copy of the song (incomplete meaning that it didn't have the rating set or something similar), and just made sure that if that file existed in a playlist, that I then added the one I was keeping to that same playlist.
I have no idea what caused it, but as far as I know, it hasn't been back.

I found out what was going on, so if anybody else has the same issue. I exported all of my playlists so I wouldn't lose all of that organization. Then, I cleared the library and reimported all of the media.
Apparently, I had restored my old library files(MJ8) several times and for each time MC9 had converted my old library to the Media Center format it had listed the single file several times.
Anyway, I guess things happen for a reason because this has given me an opportunity to reorganize all my files with the powerful new features found in MC9. I also discovered the slideshow feature and LOVE it! I have finally been able to manage, and view all of my graphic files. My Congratulations on MC9, so far. It is GREAT. :D

I figured that would do it no matter of the reason.
