Title: Full Screen behaviour
Post by: soli on October 13, 2022, 01:14:59 pm
Hi,

I just upgraded from 28.
I restored the 28 settings to the new version (30).

For some reason when I double click on a movie it won't play on the second monitor (TV) like it does on version 28 (which is still installed and working properly)
I checked the options>tree & view>Full screen>Monitor> display 2 (TV) and it looks right (same as in version 28)

Theater view works fine on the second monitor (TV)....

Any ideas? I'm sure its just a setting but no idea which one....

Tks

To be clear, when you launch theater view it opens on the second display (your television), but just opening a movie file (like in Library views) doesn't open a full screen display on your second display (your television) ?

Correct

I found a work around:

the movie starts on the monitor (not the TV) in full screen mode, if exit the full screen mode and then I maximize the window it will switch over to the TV automatically
no idea why...

I have this same behavior. I noticed it when I upgraded from MC28 to MC29 last month (when the pre-sale started) and couldn't figure out why. Regardless of what monitor I set to use, movies are launched in the monitor that MC30 is running on.

The workaround that I use is when the movie is launched, I right-click in the screen and select "Detach Display" where it is then windowed and then drag it to the opposite screen and maximize it.

So I understand this issue already happend with 29, but was fine with 28? Odd, but I'll try to check it out next week.

Correct. I installed 28 to confirm, it honors the setting of which ever monitor that is set while 29 and 30 do not.

Yeah it's annoying.

The script flow I use, not at my PC so you'll have to work it out yourself but here.

Issue MCC command 10037 -1 (this should toggle detaching the display)
Using Autohotkey, you'll want something along the lines of "WinMove, ahk_class JRiver Display Class" adding in the correct coordinates for the desired display device, and then maximize the window OR execute the MCC command for Fullscreen.

I just have this mapped to a button on my tablet control interface. I'm pretty sure the script I'm using has a bit of sanity checking to reduce undesired behavior but I'd have to look.

I guess very few people have dual screens because no one else is complying about this bug....
Your work around is great but the functionality is supposed to be builtin in the program!!!
It works in MC28...

I just hope they get to fix it soon

Yeah it's not an ideal workaround but it gets the job done. I wrote it before MC broke this ironically, was easier to hard code, than rely on MC to do it or mess around with a mouse.

This behavior should hopefully be fixed in the next build.

Thanks! I'll let you know the results when the next build is released.
