Been using MC since 24,mainly for audio. So, I upgraded to 30 and figured I'd poke around and see what other features I am paying for. I click on the Streaming section, and click on YouTube...nothing happens. I also searched the Wiki and there are no results for YouTube. Then I search the forum, and I find nothing really useful.
So, what does the YouTube icon under streaming do, or what do I have to do to make it work? I also notice that some of the icon/links work like Public Radio Fan, but most do nothing.

It should load YouTube in an embedded web browser page. You likely need to make sure your PC has the WebView2 component installed or else it may not work.

Thanks!
WebView2 is already installed.
Thing is, some of the icon/links do open the embedded web browser, like the ones I listed below. All the rest do nothing.
Podcasts
RadioParadise
PublicRadioFan
RadioJRiver

Someone reported that this build helped:
https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,134311.msg930244.html#msg930244
But it also may just be a stream MC can't play. Some are encrypted.

Thanks for replying, I appreciate it.
I went from stable, to latest...30.0.26, and YouTube still won't open.
Maybe I am not fully understanding, but clicking on the YouTube icon...does nothing. If I right-click and choose, "Open link in new window" I get the second image.
Things I have done...disabled PiHole and all ad blocking, and I am not on a proxy. I also made sure Edge was default etc. The thing is, other links like PublicRadioFan open in the built-in browser without issue.

It should open youtube's front page. I have no idea why it doesn't for you. Only thing I could think of is that web engine is blocked by firewall but then again you said that some of the web pages are connecting so beats me... I'm using edge web engine

Try right-clicking on "Streaming" (on the tree) and enable "Featured WebSites -> Youtube" option. This should make Youtube show up as a tree item, and then it works.
Apparently if Youtube is not marked as "Featured" the link tries to open via MCWS (MC Web Service) and that needs "Media Network" enabled in MC Settings, otherwise you just get that browser error you pasted. But even with Media Network enabled I can't get it to work unless it's also marked as Featured. Maybe a bug.
-
Youtube link disappears from the tree for me if I unselect it from the featured but worth try to try to toggle it as there might be some bug there
E: ah the link is also on the web page. You're probably right as usual zybex. Good find! Yep, that is it.
-
Try refreshing the Streaming web page.
Youtube is working for me.
-
It works like zybex said. If youtube is not selected as featured web page from the streaming tree then the streaming's HTML page's Youtube icon link doesn't work
-
Thanks for all the replies....I'll check the suggestions when I get back on the PC I run MC on tomorrow morning.

Thanks.... This solved it.
I think I might have removed it from featured a long time ago, just to have the links I used like PublicRadioFan (which worked), and individual stations I follow.
I can put this issue to bed...
Thanks everyone!

Thanks for reporting back :)
-
What is the use case for YouTube inside MC?
-
That does raise the issue that the icons on the main display are static and do not reflect items that have been hidden and items that are added. It has been that way from the beginning. Shouldn't it display the same items as in the tree?

I'll make it so that even if the site is off, the link will still work in a coming build. Thanks for pointing this out.
