Hi
JRiver 30 v 19 is opening multiple "jriver web services" background processes (90+) which causes 90%+ CPU utilization and causes PC to become unresponsive. I'm running windows 11 latest release (fully Up to Date). All AV exclusions are in place.
JRiver 29 works perfectly on the same device no issues.
Any ideas?

What antivirus software are you using?

defender

This may be similar to the "opening too many tabs" error posted. Only difference is that on my device JRiver hangs.
I had been performing some music library maintenance tasks using smart lists, before this started happening. Circa 450k tracks about 10tb.
I have not uninstalled/Reinstalled JRiver 30 yet.

Double check your settings with the thread here on Windows defender.
Make sure you have the latest build of MC 30. It's available at the top of this board.

Hi
I am on the latest release and all defender AV exclusions have been correctly applied.
Does JRiver "remember" what/how many panes/tabs are open during a session and attempt to re-open them on a re-start? Could this be causing the multiple web background processes to be spawned?

I have encountered the "why is JRiver spawning all these tabs" issue in the last few weeks. CTRL+W will help you here (it's the shortcut to close tabs).
There's a chance it's going to crash / lock JRiver I think. It hasn't locked it for me beyond the first time but I've been pretty good at quitting, then closing the tabs on reopen before things get hairy. IIRC the tabs JRiver was spawning were spotlight tabs.

Thanks Eve for the Ctrl-W tip, I'll try it should I need it in the future.
I resorted to "scrubbing" JRiver 30 and re-installing and restored library from backup.
In the interim I'll ensure that all panes/tabs are closed.

Yeah! It should work. If the computer running MC isn't super performant, I can absolutely see this causing lockouts / performance issues. If it happens again, try to ctrl+w the random tabs as soon as you can. RAM usage kind of ballooned when this happened to me but I have gobs of it, so on something less capable, could be an issue.

Can you please give us more details about when this happens? Any steps to reproduce it consistently? Thanks.

Hi
I'll re-run the scenarios I undertook prior to the problem manifesting, unfortunately I will not be able to do this until the weekend.
I'll document the steps and post back the results
