Title: Convolution auto switching
Post by: jason3 on December 04, 2022, 03:28:13 pm
I am really confused by the config file thing for auto switching between different resolutions with convolution.  As it is now it is not auto switching.  I have a list of .wav files that each have a different frequency for convolution and I have figured out how to load them individually for each album I listen to.  These are for the LCD-5 headphones.  What I want is auto switching.  I have looked at the wiki and am confused.  Do I just rename each .wav file to the specified naming scheme? This would involve renaming the .wav files to .cfg files, right?  And if so what to put for <name>?
Or do I create a file and name it like the naming scheme and do a convolver style format for that file?  Is there examples for what I am trying to do?  What am I missing? I am lost and need help with this!
PS- I am still on JRiver version 29, latest update if that matters.

Try the wiki topic on Zoneswitch.  Each zone can be configured separately.

I believe the cfg files must be convolution related.

Interesting.  Not sure how that applies to my situation but I will try it.  On the other hand:  How does one use convolver with JRiver?

https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Convolution explains this, have you read it?

I even referenced the wiki in my post.  As I mentioned, it confused me.  Maybe you could explain it to me?

You need to write a cfg file that references a wav file and then name that file according to the format specified in the wiki page. There are examples in https://convolver.sourceforge.net/configegs.html

If you have a single stereo wav file as a filter and stereo input/output then the 2nd example in that page looks like what you want, just use your actual filename instead of the example given

So I create a cfg file for each, ie 192 and 44.1?  Then name it according to the wiki?   What do I put where it says (in the wiki) <name>?

I seem to have it sorted out.  It appears to be working thanks! :)
