Title: JRiver MC won't create M3U8 playlist files when syncing to sd card

I sync my music library to an SD card that I use on my phone. I have playlists of favorite tracks from all my artists. About 500 playlists. I have chosen M3U8 relative paths as my playlist format when syncing. MC will not create M3U8 files when syncing. Instead, it creates M3U files which my phone has trouble reading. What gives?
