Title: Nvidia doesn't handle HDR passthrough
Post by: lello on February 11, 2023, 11:20:28 am
Since I switched from AMD to Nvidia, I have to deal with new problems all the time. :-[

Previously with the RX 580 I was able to get, albeit a little slow, HDR passthrough and both the JRiver OSD and the projector menu, indicated that the HDR signal was active.

Now, with the RTX 3060, the JRiver OSD reports passthrough active while the projector reports SDR. Also the colors are overexposed, with the whites fired, and I couldn't figure out which setting I have to change.

I can continue with tone mapping, but would like to try passthrough anyway

Thanks for the tips.

I went crazy trying to figure out what the problem was, since all the settings of Win11 and the Nvidia control panel were correct.

Eventually I found out that it was because I, having a 21:9 screen, created a custom resolution of 3840X1640.

Setting the standard resolution 3840x2160, everything works but I still don't understand why it shouldn't work with the custom resolution. :(

Anyway, I found that with HDR active, it doesn't load the ICC profile and from the projector menu I can't change the colors, both the gray level and the CMS: is everything normal?

I read that the latest Nvidia drivers are not always the right ones: which one do you recommend at the moment?

Thanks for your help
