Title: Can MC9 store photos offline?
Post by: Easyrider on February 27, 2003, 04:35:29 pm
Hi

Can MC9 store photos offline (CD or DVD) ?
and view thumbnails of offline photos without inserting CD?

Would like to store images on (cd or DVD) and be able to do searches on key words and have MC9 tell me which CD the image is located on?

It will probably work.  I'm not sure about thumb-nails, but I think that will also work.

You could give it a try.

and if it doesn't work, have a shufty @ whereisit (http://www.whereisit-soft.com). It'll do what you want, plus store any comments etc. you associate with each pic, and if you have cd's stored in different places, it'll tell you where each cd is stored, and if you happen to loan one out, you can flag it as such, including who has it and when they borrowed it. I tried loads of cd catalogue software before buying this one. It does absolutely everything you could ask for, and then some more :)
That said, I no longer use it for audio cd's. MC has now been given that job on a full-time basis :)

Hi folks,

I Just tried to import some jpg from a CDROM. It happens that MC does not create thumbnails for images on a CDROM. Other properties are OK (file size, image dimensions, etc..)

the cdrom volume name is properly recognized but no off-line thumbnails, that's the only thing missing, dommage !

Thumbnails creation of CD images will work again next build. (was just a bug)

Then, you'll be able to catalog and search for files on removable media.

When MC tries to play a file not present in any of your CD drives, it'll ask you to insert that volume name into any drive.

It's actually a really slick system. (once the bug is fixed)

Wow!

That makes me very happy ;D

I guess I will have to upgrade to MC9!

Looking forward to trying it out!

I have been using MJ8. It has worked perfectly!
Here are my current System Info.

Do you see any problems with my cd burner or dvd burner working with MC9?
