Matt,
While playing with images in MC, I discovered that upon import of jpg files, the 'year' field is filled from what seems to be the date in the EXIF tags. Could you confirm on that ?
Futhermore could it be possible that when importing images, the full EXIF date/time taken (if present) be imported in 'Date Created' ? (e.g NIKON CORPORATION NIKON D100 - 30/01/2003 16:44 - F/2 - 1/1000 sec.).
If no exif that would default to the normal file date creation.
Thanks a lot,
Christian

That implies a new data type field 'date' (and the related operator: < > to search it) as to import exif date into a string field is not very useful.
In the meantime, if you want full exif date into a custom string field you can do it:
- use PIE (Picture Information Extractor at www.picmeta.com) to rename the files
- import them into MC
- copy field 'filename' -> custom field 'date'
- replace ".jpg" by ""

Thanks michel,
I currently use Imatch and that's what I do by renaming all my file like 20020214-1655--blabla.jpg using the exif 'date taken' info.
Anyway, don't you think MC is starting to look promising for picture management ?

no problem for me !

I am doing a test "grandeur nature" with a copy of my 9000+ photos. The first difficulty is to import all associated info from my current db (CSV format) to an MPL file (XML format)...

We do fill the Year from EXIF if possible.
Next build will also fill "Date Created". It won't be a file created time like for music, but I don't know why anyone would care.
Thanks.
