Title: Upgrading licensed MC to latest version

When I click "Help" - "Check for Updates", I get the message: "Failed to connect to a server."  If I just download the latest version from the website, will it overwrite my registered copy or lose the data that's there now?  I currently have version 9.0.88.

Just download the latest and install.
