I'm not sure we need it. Can't you just make "Track #" part of your sorting. (i.e. Artist, Album, Track #)
on Today at 7:00pm, JaredH wrote:because heres the problem.....i sort my colums like this Artist(ascending), Name(ascending). If i insert track number at the end....then the name sorting takes presedence over the track sorting....and if i put track # second and name third...then what happens is, in bigger lists that arent sorted by albums, istead of being in alphabetical order, they will be in track order for example.....Pearl Jam has 7 albums under it, if viewing each album separately, i want to be able to see the files displayed in the corrrect track order, but if im just viewing it under the Pearl Jam root....then what will happen is it will group the tracks like this (1,1,1,1,1,1,1,2,2,2,2,2,2,23,3,3,3,3,3,3) and so on, instead of in alphebetical order. Thats where the problem lies
on Today at 7:06pm, JaredH wrote:a better description of what im talking about would be this.....Pearl jam has 7 albums and it would list in order from track one to the last track......the first track of every album, then the second track of every album, then the third track of every album...and so on, down the list until it reaches the last known track....and each of those tracks would then be listed alhebetically, but if im under pearl jam (or anything else with albums) and not an individual album, i want all of the tracks listed alphebetically, regardles of track number

Hey Jared,
We got rid of that option because a lot of people have made comments like "what is that dumb option" and "I never understood that thing."
I think it doesn't make sense if you always sort by Artist / Album / Track # (or similar). It also makes the behaviour inconsistent since sorting will be different in different views. It makes sticky remembering tricky too because what does it mean if it sorts an album by track # and you redo it by name?
Is there some simple, intuitive solution that makes everyone happy? (putting the option back is alright, but we need to solve the stuff above then)
Thanks!

putting the option back would solver the stuff above.....because the stuff above is coming from not having the option......if the option is put back in like it were before, as a checkbox....then it wouldnt be a problem....just a simple matter of use or dont use. I personally need the option....because i have my library set up to view by artist, name and thats it. I display the album field, but only because when im viewing a large list of files from one artist, i still like to know what album it comes from. I save the track number sequence for when i want to view a single album, otherwise in the larger lists, the tracks are sorted alphebetically by name.

"what is that dumb option"
that was not me, but i was thinking it.
-
alright now guys, yall are makin me sound like a mental case for wanting this option back in.....it seems like it would be a simple thing to put back in, and as olong as no one uses it, then it wont effect their view scheme......anoter note...i have two different view schemes, one for my main audio files, and one for my soundtrack files, and both use the track # for albums option

Hey, Jared, I get the same treatment sometimes, but Matt has this thing about adding options and he's often right. ;D
Nothing is writ in stone.

good to know im not the only one......also good to know that you probly get it much more than i do since you work with him, haha
