Hello!
About to uninstall Edge. MC only needs the WebView2 component, at least that's was the case back in MC28 (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,129139.msg896207.html#msg896207). My question:
a) is the WebView2 entry seen in the screenshot installed by MC "externally" and thus visible to the system, so I should only remove the other two entries (Edge + Edge Update), or
b) is it used "internally"/invisibly by MC (say, like madVR or other plugins) so I can safely uninstall the WebView2 entry too?
I'm guessing a) but want to be sure. Thanks.

That should answer your question

Thanks, but that's the exact same link I included in my post. I guess you missed it.

You don't need the full Edge browser installed for MC to function. But I don't know why you'd need to uninstall it.

Well, looks like Chromium Edge is now baked into Windows 10, same as Internet Explorer and "Edge Legacy" were in the past, so it's not that easy or even recommended to uninstall it via other, non-standard means. I thought it was still an optional installation, but it is not.
Guess I'm forced to having it perform its constant checks and updates in the background, even without ever using it.

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend removing Edge from Windows 10 or 11, especially the WebView2 component that MC uses as well.
In *theory* it should be okay to uninstall just Edge (and leave the WebView2 component) but considering how terrible Microsoft has been with testing the last few years, it's hard to say if removing Edge will have some sort of unforeseen consequence or not.

In *theory* it should be okay to uninstall just Edge...
Well, you can't anymore. Not without using various PowerShell tricks anyway, which are bound to cause problems in the long run.
