Title: JRVR Settings UX question
Post by: Hendrik on May 17, 2023, 06:20:37 am
I'm trying to organize the Output settings in JRVR a bit more by category in anticipation of adding more for aspect ratio settings, and possibly more HDR options - the one long list was getting a bit hard to navigate.

So my question is, if you see an option tree like this:

Would you be inclined to click on the Monitor name itself to find "general settings", or would you rather expect all settings to be in sub-categories?

I would expect a general subsection

I like the prior. It’s t simplifies the tree. And if they are going to have to click it anyways to expand the tree for that display, there should be no issues with doing that.

I don't mind either way.

Existing tree doesn't expand, if this bit does, I think that would be odd

I think a separate entry is cleaner, and to avoid needing to make another filler page clicking the monitor could just redirect the user to that one as well. Although right now I don't really have any content for a general page anyway, I should probably name it differently and put aspect ratio/black bar control on there.
