now I know there are a lot of John Wick films that appear to be identical but MC takes this a bit too far :)
I have deleted this more than once and it keeps coming back & now it's importing it again and again so I have multiple copies in the library. Any idea how to stop this?
nothing obvious in logs to explain it & doesn't happen with any other folder
-
I would do a list view (or similar) so I could see the referenced filename. It's possible something wonky is happening there. If they all have the exact same file name... well I'd start doing wonky stuff of my own (like renaming the file to something completely different), but I'm probably ahead of the game here.
Best of luck.
Brian.

same name in each one
-
Oh it's a bluray structure.
Maybe enable logging, do an import, and then submit a log file?

I rebooted so auto import ran again
$ grep Wick Log.txt

you can see that it knows it deleted it previously but then imports it anyway
-
Windows or Linux?
Related to case?
-
windows, windows tells me there is one and only one such dir
PS W:\> dir "John Wick_ Chapter 3 - Parabell*"
Directory: W:\
Mode LastWriteTime Length Name
---- ------------- ------ ----
d----- 18/04/2020 10:24 John Wick_ Chapter 3 - Parabellum
[code]
-
Did you try renaming the directory? It has an asterisk in it.
-
It doesn't, dir name is bottom line in output
-
OK. Did you try renaming it?
-
use rename in MC, it moved just 2 files and the sidecar and left the rest behind
-
moved the rest of it manually
deleted all the entries from MC
ran import again on that directory
11748961: 3448: Import: AddFile: Skipping Previously Removed: W:\John Wick Chapter 3 - Parabellum\BDMV\index.bdmv

11810972: 8284: Import: JRAnalyzer::AddFile: Filename: W:\John Wick Chapter 3 - Parabellum\BDMV\index.bdmv
it clearly knows that it deleted these things before (more than once) but decides to import anyway
-
deleted it again from MC then imported
it shows up again
ran import again and it says
Imported 1 new file.
Updated 2 files that had external changes.
In-depth details:
Imported:
W:\John Wick Chapter 3 - Parabellum\BDMV\index.bluray;1
Updated:
W:\John Wick Chapter 3 - Parabellum\BDMV\index.bluray;1
W:\John Wick Chapter 3 - Parabellum\BDMV\index.bluray;1
didn't duplicate the library item this time though
-
Maybe covered above, but import has a check box to let you import files previously deleted. Is it checked?
-

I have nothing useful to say about this issue. But I found this quote pretty funny and I want to say so. :) :) :)

it's unclear if that applies to single folder import (given it's not an option on that dialog) but it is checked on the auto import config
-
Uncheck it.
-
Uncheck it.
?
the option is "Ignore files previously removed from the library"
I realise it's currently not ignoring this particular file but I'm curious why unchecking that would help?
also note that I can't uncheck that without actually running auto import with that setting which I'm loathe to do for no reason (because unchecking it but clicking cancel doesn't save the change)
-
Did you try removing all references from it from the DB, including the "removed" DB (you can make a smartlist to show those), and then see if it still duplicates?
I imagine something must've gone wrong with this particular file, but I don't see anything standing out right away. Its not like its generally doing it for all BDMV entries.
-
we might have a winner :)
I did that (deleted it from all the places), imported it 3 times which produced 2 entries, deleted those (just normally, not from deleted db) and imported again, now it sticks and isn't reimporting.
