Are you on the latest channel? If it's on the stable channel, that's probably why.

Ok..ohh so if one have installed ...017 ...which never has been avalible as stable build only as latest build..and if one do like I have done ..installed it when it was available as latest build ...and then i set the update back to stable build..then it wont work and wont install the stable build..because one have to be on a stable build to be able to auto install the next available stable build...did I understand correctly?

The wiki covers this pretty well: https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Updates

I installed build 17 by mistake when it came out...I only want stable build..which is 21. but when I run update stable build in jriver nothing happens. it says it is already updated. Am I missing something?

read the wiki.

."MC can automatically check for the minor updates and download them. Under MC's Help menu, you can set the update level you prefer. It does not check for major upgrades."

Maybe something is wrong..complete reinstalation?
