There seems to be a few MC / AVS members like MovieMan (Vern Dias on AVS) comparing madvr vs libplacebo (https://www.avsforum.com/threads/madvr-player-support-thread.2215490/page-439#post-62622479) both on AVS and here.

I'll be preparing an update for libplacebo this coming week that should improve some of the tone mapping concerns re: saturation, and hopefully as well the blue issue in the test patterns jmone posted.
