Title: Mpeg2
Post by: Griff on February 17, 2003, 06:16:12 am
Hello

Can anyone tell me why MC9 cannot play mpeg2 files?

In Help " MJ supports additional formats by sending them to MS window player".

Well MS window player plays these fine and so do all my other players.

Mpeg2 is in "file associations" on both MC9 and MJ8.

MJ8 on another comp. will not play them.

mpeg2, 720x480,ntsc(525),8m,audio 48khz 16 bit.

Thanks
Griff

What extension do the files have?  Try changing it to mpg or mpeg.

Changed to mpeg and it worked????

Since I have tons of these from old home movies ,VHS tapes.  (created by ATI AIW)

Will I have to change all of them on my hard drive and any future ones?

Thanks for your help

Just beg and whine and I'm sure Matt'll slip it into the next build or two :)

Nikolay made a change that should be in build 118.

mp2 is officially Mpeg2-layer 2, an audio file, but now people are using mp2 to label MPEG2 files (video).

We've switched it to video for now.  Unless there are a lot of mp2 audio fans we're not aware of, it will stay there.

Try doing a check for updates.  It should download supported file types.

No, that may be wrong.  Right click on "Start" in the tree and do "Update Web Pages".   I think that's where it will happen.

Nothing there except a Mp3 Encoder (not mp2).

Dont see anything relating to .mp2.
