Title: MC 31 - most cover art not displayed [Solved]
Post by: NuthinFancy on July 23, 2023, 03:20:33 pm
Newbie (WMC refugee) here -
Just downloaded installed MC 31 on Win10 desktop and pointed the Video - Movies at my NAS.
Approximately 1021 movie titles (ripped from DVD) organized as:
\\...\Video\Movies\
   \3 Days of the Condor
       \AUDIO_TS
       \VIDEO_TS
   3 DAYS OF THE CONDOR.dvdid.xml

The movie titles are correctly detected and displayed, but only a small percentage of them display any cover art - the rest are blank/black.
What am I missing here?

TIA.

How is your cover art named and stored?

Thanks for the reply.
Under Tools|Options|File Location|Cover Art|Folder: C\MediaUser\AppData\Roaming\JRiver\Media Center 31\Cover Art\

I did search the wiki but couldn't find anything that clarified things - for me.
I stepped away for a time and when I came back, most of the titles now do have cover art.  Perhaps I was not patient enough?

When doing an import, or auto import, of new movies or TV shows, MC does an Internet lookup in the background for each title.  This runs one by one.  It finds the description, actors, etc.  It also finds cover art.

In the case of the cover art, it doesn't update on screen as it is found.  Rather, it takes some kind of display event to make it update.  What I normally do is switch to another view, like Audio > Albums, and then switch immediately back to my Movies view.  When I do that, any new covers that MC has found will be shown for each movie.
