Title: Managing large media libraries
Post by: LisaRCT on February 20, 2003, 07:45:21 am
I have a media library which includes over 11,000 mp3 files and continues to grow.
Whenever I have a need to click on a media folder on my drive within MediaCenter's tree view, MediaCenter scans the folder for file and tag information.

My problem is that this consumes virtually all my system resources leaving my PC frozen until this folder scan and tag/attribute read is completed.

I am running an AMD XP2100+ with 1.5GB RAM and ATA133 drives so it is not a lack or resources.  I use Windows XP with NTFS file handling. I have tried various folder configurations attempting to make file handling easier with no improvement.  Defragmenting the drive had no apparent results either.

Anyone got any ideas?

?

Import into Media Library.

If you do that, you could easily manage 100,000+ files without any delays on a cookin' computer like yours.

Also, get the latest version. (9.0.117)

We recently fixed a few memory leaks.

OK I went to the BETA download and can only find version 9.0.105, which is my current version. Where can I download version 9.0.117 ? Is this where I can always go to find the latest updates?

oh, and thank you   :D
