I've recently had issues ripping about 4 music CD's, in all instances the issue it was resolved by manually changing max speed to 1X speed in the options.... Fine.
But I was wondering why this can't happen automatically, e.g. if the rip is not secure, try again at x1 speed (or the next slower speed) . It could be an option I suppose. Or am I missing something?
Thanks...

Anybody at all?

Were these discs damaged? I've ripped many hundreds of CDs in the past decade. Most of them (90%+) rip at extremely high speed (10x to 20x). The ones that slow down generally have visible disc damage.

They didn't appear to be damaged, they were pretty old CD's however, but that isn't the point I'm making (the state of my CD's isn't media centers fault) . I managed to securely rip them at lower speeds (job done).
My point is I'm wondering why Media Center can't automatically reduce the speed and retry the rip (it could be an option to switch on or off), after a certain number of retries, rather than just leave the user to do trial and error.
Thanks...
