Title: Media Center 9.0.114 beta
Post by: Matt on February 17, 2003, 11:11:31 am
Media Center 9.0.114 beta is available.

Many things will crash and not work.  If that worries you, please wait for a couple of weeks.

ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter90114.exe

Changes

1. Changed: "Album Artist (auto)" now uses the [Album Artist] field if it's filled -- otherwise it uses the auto logic from previous builds.
2. Changed: Made continuous and shuffle player button tooltips more understandable.
3. Fixed: CD labeler "adjust brightness" option wasn't working correctly.
4. Changed: CD labeler extracts images from file tags to normal temp directory so they aren't deleted when MC exits.
5. Fixed: Some unnecessary duplicate image files were being created by CD labeler.
6. Fixed: Going to "Analyze Audio" when list style wasn't in "details" mode would cause problems.
7. Fixed: High-quality image stretching bug that would "bleed" one pixel too many when stretching.
8. Fixed: Playback of last track in playlist would get the end cut off.
9. NEW: CD labeler now supports "Pressit" pre-printed labels.
10. Fixed: CD labeler would crash in wizard mode if no printers were found.
11. Fixed: Playback statistics were not being updated. (last played and number plays)
12. Fixed: Mouse wheel scrolling at the bottom of a thumbnail list would jump left and right.
13. Fixed: Send to Playing Now (play now) didn't work. (could effect double-click too)
14. Fixed: Custom fields weren't hooked up in MJAutomation SDK.

Fixed: Last track in playlist would get end cut off.

Thanks, Matt, or whoever was responsible. This now works just fine.

"Start Minimized" didn't make it into startup options for this build. Awwwwww.
[anticipation]Mebbe the next one[/anticipation]

Analyse Audio still returning 100% peak level value for all files.

MC still crashing when an audio cd is inserted while MC is not running.

You can set it to minimize in the shortcut options for the icon and then MC will start minimized. Works here.

If I delete an 'INSIDE FILE' image file, save tags and then reimport the music it is displaying the 'INSIDE FILE' picture again.

It doesn't seem to be deleting correctly (unless I'm doing something wrong).

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Matt;

I reported on this bug six versions ago ( 9.0.108 ) but it is still there...

* On 5.1 surround sound the rear two channels are missing.  As soon as I click on TV Configure/Advanced Options then click on the TV Tuner the rear channels return.  I don't even have to select OK or anything... the rear channels stay good until the next time when I re-load MC then they are gone again.

The last version that the rear channels worked was 9.0.107.

* Sometimes (seems to erratic) under the TV Configure/Audio tab the Choose Mixer Device & Choose Audio Line will sometimes be blank & I have to re-enter the information.  This happens at odd times.  The missing rear channels are lost every time MC is loaded so there does not seem to any connection between the two problems.

Doc, there's a very good chance that this bug is in a driver or in the OS.  Try updating your drivers first.  Then start a new thread.

With XP you could open up task manager and see what processes are still running. Might give a hint as to what is causing the problem.

1)The playlist scrol bar still does not work in Min-Me skins.  I mean dragging the scroll bar or pressing up and down arrows does not scrol the playlist.

2) In the last few builds holding the "next" button for a sertain ammount of time starts fast forwarding.  Nice feature, but you can't tell it's there untill you try it.  It would be nice if the button graphics changed to "fast forward" (two arrows) after holding the next button for a few seconds.   Also, a tooltip that tells you about that function when you hover over the "next" button.

3)Clicking a *.rm link downloads the file instead of streaming it.  If I cut and paste the link in to "Open URL of streaming file" dialog box, the file streams fine.

Clicking on a *.ram link does nothing.  Again, if I cut and paste it into "Open URL of streaming file" dialog box, the file streams fine.

BOTH file types are registered under MC9 in IE Folder options.

4) It would be more intuitive if the Hairstyle player controls had graphics as well as text.

5) If you change DSP settings from zone manager they are not saved.  You have to switch to each zone, open DSP from the player window and then adjust the settings.  This has to be done for each zone.

FYI. I just got a error message: "Internal play buffer error: playing buffer accumulated too much spent data.

Please report this error to JRiver as soon as possible so that it can be fixed. Ok". This happened while I was messing around the asio buffering (More skip resistant) ?

JRSS is still causing instant shutdown if files are played without proper equipment. Have to go to source (bitdepth) playback, then step it up from there to regain control.

I think if you avert playback from your soundcard you could probably reproduce this. Provided that you also had mainboard sound to switch to.

Any way for MC to auto-detect the necessary settings and apply them? Of course, that wouldn't keep a dip**** like me from pushing all those fun buttons.  :P

Download Manager still doesn't work. I get a "Bad Request" message. E Music's DM works as well as it can on the same files. And now Download Manager crashes (just DM) whenever you attempt to go into "Options".

And the "Start Menu" shortcut folder for Media Center is still "empty".

This is a bug that's been around and I never got a chance to report:

Audio Analyzer seems to have a memory leak in it. If I only analyze 5 or 10 files at a time, no problem. But if I try to do 200 at once, when I come back to the computer I see that maybe 30 or 40 are marked "DONE" and the rest are marked "ERROR". There is also a message from windows saying it is low on virtual memory and is increasing the size of the paging file.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the files in question because I can just restar the analyzer and it will continue until windows runs out of memory again.

Having just come back from a 2 week vacation, it's occurred to me that some sort of History option in the Help menu would be very welcome. Ideally, this option would display the change log of every version of MC (just within the major release obviously) so that it's possible to see this without having to hop on line and check through a bunch of posts.

Please?

Hello,

Thanks for the  update in MJAutomationSDK, I can now read the fields:
 Custom1, Custom2, Custom3

However the fields:
 Type, Composer
are still returning "undefined"

and the field:
 Filename,
returns filename ONLY if the file is physicaly present.

Please note also that custom_1/2/3, composer are inaccessible in the visualisation studio and Track info

Regards

Cheers for the thought dragyn, I tried that already. I've been having "start minimised" issues.....

Update
re. Analyse Audio/100% peak values.......
I left a heap to do overnight and it is no longer true that they all return 100% results. I'd say around 75% of 1000 files set @ 100% (all of these files were given 100% values prior to the fix)
Q - Does it matter if "replay gain" is enabled or not in DSP studio while performing audio analyses?

Audio cd autorun/MC crash still stands.

Also, MS and MC both crash when MS Options is selected. Screen opens momentarily but is grayed out.

Will try ripping and burning when I get home tonite.

Matt, I checked on this. CustomX are all working through Get() and Put() as expected. On my system using the new TLB file with MJFields.h, I have successfully read:

  pFile->Get(CUSTOM_1, formatted)
  pFile->Get(CUSTOM_2, formatted)
  pFile->Get(CUSTOM_3, formatted)
  pFile->Get(MF_FILETYPE, formatted)
  pFile->Get(MF_KEYWORDS, formatted)
  pFile->Get(MF_COMPOSER, formatted)

Perhaps PhDSM's code used a different MJFields.h? Or his TLB doesn't refer to .114's?

Thanks so much for this!!!

I confirm this failure. I think I first saw it in .088. I want to display the file name when SyncMaster can't find a file that's in a playlist. Now I have to make an Artst - Album - xxx - xxx  title to help them understand what's missing.

Upon bringing up the options menu, a warning *always* appears stating "The Creative ASIO Devices Have Changed.  You may need to restart the program before using Creative ASIO devices."

If ASIO playback is enabled, this same dialog box appears anytime playback is initiated.

I am unable to get ASIO output to work at all with my Echo Indigo PCMCIA soundcard. I switch the playback to ASIO and MC sees the card as ASIO Echo WDM, but when I press play it just sits there saying "Buffering...". When I hit stop, MC crashes and always produces a dialog box that says:

There was an error starting playback.

Make sure that your system has a valid sound playback device and that it is properly configured in Media Jukebox playback options.

(double check the output mode, output device, and output bitdepth)

Wave out and DirectSound work just fine. I don't have DSP or any other effects turned on.

Had a problem with install of 114 over 113 on a fresh XP Pro installation (with SP1).  Install went fine until it got to the Windows Media Components.  Installation hung there for 10 minutes.  I went into the task manager, killed the wmfredist.exe and installation completed.   I dont' use WMA, so I'm not too concerned, but it was the first time I hit this.

Also, after the fresh installation of XP Pro with SP1, MC crashes 90% of the time after I rip a cd and place a new cd into the tray, and MC attempts to contact YADB for the disc info.  MC then tells me that it failed to connect to YADB and then crashes on me.

The 100% cpu utilization problem I had previously is no longer a problem since my fresh install of XP Pro - however, a buddy of mine with XP Pro is now running into the same problem I had.  I'm hoping he'll post the details here soon.  :)

Bug: TrackInfo pages periodically re-paints for no apparent reason. This was also present in 113, but may have been in earlier versions as well. This happens with all TrackInfo templates I've checked.

The "Windowed Mode" also appears to start off as "Always on Top" despite the configuration saying otherwise. Checking, then unchecking this option got the configuration and display back in-sync.

[Edit]
The re-paint issue occurs regardless of Internal vs. Windowed mode.

Am in the office now with 114 installed at client and server side. Was able to connect at home through MS, but am getting bounced here.

MS is running at home. Can you connect? (Let me know if you need my IP address again.)

If that's not the problem, it has to be here in the office - either a bad install or something weird in our firewall. However, I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times, cleared out the temp files and talked to our IT people earlier and they say there's nothing new recently.

So, I'n buffaloed.

Is there any way to make MC "NOT" download a fresh copy of a remote Media Server database ?? My ZIP file is almost 3 Megs and it takes quite a while to download sometimes ... I would prefer to just use a local saved copy and be able to "refresh" it when necessary ...
